British Values

In accordance with The Department for Education, we aim to actively promote British values at Oxley to ensure our children leave here prepared for life in modern Britain.

Our children are taught to regard people of all faiths, races, and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law. We endeavour to not only do this through specifically themed assemblies but also through all aspects of our curriculum.

More information about how we thread through British Values here at Oxley can be found below:
British Values in Action at Oxley

The fundamental aspects of British Values can also be seen throughout our PSHE curriculum.
Each week, we use Picture News to explore current events while developing children’s understanding of British Values and the protected characteristics. New for 2026, pupils also consider a weekly question linked to the news story, sharing their opinions before casting their vote and seeing how their views compare with others.
