Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At Oxley Primary School, we want every child to feel happy, supported and able to achieve their full potential. Through our broad and balanced curriculum, we provide engaging learning experiences designed to meet the needs of all our pupils.

We carefully monitor each child’s progress so that any additional needs can be identified and supported as early as possible. Parents know their children best, so if you have any concerns about your child’s learning or development, we warmly encourage you to speak with us.

Your child’s class teacher will be your first point of contact. They will talk with you about your child’s progress and discuss how we can support them at school, as well as suggesting ways you may be able to help at home. Depending on your child’s individual needs, this support may include additional help in the classroom, one-to-one support or working within a small, targeted group.

If your child continues to experience difficulties, our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) may become involved. Further assessments may be carried out in school to help us understand your child’s needs more fully. Their class teacher and/or the SENCo will discuss everything with you and your child, ensuring you are involved in deciding the next steps.

If you feel your child may have a special educational need, please come and talk to us. By working together, we can ensure your child receives the care, support and education they need to thrive.
